The Jharkhand JPSC-JSSC students’ protest began on July 26 in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in the 14th–16th JPSC and other JSSC recruitment examinations.
Students demanded cancellation of the disputed exams, a CBI probe, transparent recruitment and action against those responsible. The agitation grew into a statewide movement featuring hunger strikes, marches, and planned Assembly gheraos, prompting the Hemant Soren government to initiate talks with protesters.
In the above context, an image of Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), is seen wearing a red and white scarf with some people surrounding him. The image is being widely shared on social media with a caption claiming that Dipke came to participate in the ongoing JPSC-JSCC protest.
A social media user shared the image with a caption that reads, “Abhijeet Dipke visited the ongoing student protest in Ranchi, interacted with demonstrators, and voiced support for their concerns. His visit has amplified the spotlight on the movement, which continues to fuel conversations around student rights and accountability.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. There are no reports of Dipke joining the protest.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the video from which the screenshot was taken was shared by an X user, Prag News, on July 25.
The caption reads, “@abhijeet_dipke , founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), was honoured with a Gamusa, a traditional symbol of Assamese pride.” The post was published at around 12:33 PM, just before the CJP officially called off its protest later that day after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and the Centre agreed to the movement’s key demands.
CJP officially took to X at around 5:47 pm on July 25 and announced that they were withdrawing their protest.
We further found that the same video was also shared by an Instagram page, justmenthink.in, on July 19.
We then closely examined the segment of the viral video in which Dipke is presented with a ceremonial scarf. A banner in the background bears the words ‘Shantipurna Pradarshan’ (peaceful protest), and ‘Dharmendra Pradhan Istifa Do’ is faintly visible beneath it. This was a demand put during the CJP protest held at Jantar Mantar.
Thus, based on the incident and the timeline, we can ascertain that the video was recorded during the CJP protest in Delhi, not at the ongoing JPSC-JSSC agitation in Ranchi.
Did Dipke attend the Ranchi protest?
Moreover, there is no credible evidence to support that Dipke was present at the Ranchi protest. However, he has expressed solidarity with the movement, but there is no confirmed report that he has physically joined the protest.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
