The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest, which began over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, evolved into a nationwide youth movement demanding accountability, education reforms and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Despite police crackdowns and prolonged demonstrations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, negotiations with the Centre succeeded after the government accepted the protesters’ key demands, including Pradhan’s resignation and withdrawal of police cases against protesters.
The CJP officially called off the protest on July 25 immediately after the Centre accepted its demands during a joint press conference.
In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke is allegedly kneeling and pleading with police. It shows Dipke with folded hands in front of police officers.
A social media user shared the video with a caption accusing him of continuing the protest despite the government accepting the CJP’s demands.
The report suggests that even after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as Education Minister, Abhijit Dipke refused to leave Jantar Mantar and continued the protest, ultimately pleading with police on his knees.
A social media user shared the video with a caption which, when translated into English, reads, “Even after Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned, ‘Cockroach’ Abhijit Dipke refused to leave Jantar Mantar or call off the protest. However, the moment news broke that the Police Commissioner had issued an order mandating the identification of rioters and anti-social elements.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from July 9 showing Dipke requesting police permission to set up tents to protect hunger-striking students from rain, weeks before Pradhan resigned.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared on an X post by a CJP supporter account dated July 9. According to the caption of the original post, it suggested that Dipke said, “I request the police officers to allow us to put up tents so that the students on hunger strike can be protected from the rain.” Thus, this incident was more than two weeks before Dharmendra Pradhan resigned.
We further found that the same video was also shared by Times Now on July 10 with a caption that reads, “CJP PROTEST: Abhijeet Dipke’s Emotional Plea To Cop Caught On Camera.”
The incident was also reported by Dainik Bhaskar on July 9.
According to the report, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has been protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar for the past 20 days against the alleged NEET paper leak. On Thursday, founder Abhijeet Dipke was seen folding his hands and touching the feet of police officers while requesting permission to set up tents to protect students on a hunger strike from the rain. Dipke shared a video of the incident on social media, saying the students were getting drenched and that he had appealed to police to allow temporary shelters at the protest site.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
