A video has gone viral showing a person shooting down a helicopter with a rocket launcher. Those sharing the video claim that it shows Taliban soldiers shooting down a Pakistani helicopter.

A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Taliban forces shot down a military helicopter of Pakistan in Khost area.”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim was false. It is an old video from Turkey.

On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video published in a Mirror UK report on May 24, 2016. The video was shared with a report stating that Kurdish militants shot down a helicopter belonging to Turkish armed forces using a rocket launcher.

The video was also shared by Zee News on its YouTube channel on May 14, 2016. The caption read, “Kurd fighter shot down Turkish helicopter.”

Express.UK suggest that the video was alledegly taken in the southeastern mountains of Turkey's Hakkari province.

Therefore, we conclude that the viral claim is false.
