The Israel–Iran war began on February 28 after the US and Israel launched large-scale airstrikes on Iran, targeting its nuclear and military infrastructure.
Iran retaliated with sustained missile and drone attacks on Israel and US positions. Recent Iranian missile attacks on cities like Arad and Dimona injured over 100 people, while ceasefire efforts remain stalled and tensions continue to escalate.
In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which a female reporter is seen standing amid the rubble of a building and talking about what happened.
Social media users are sharing the video with a caption suggesting that it shows recent attacks on Israel’s Tel Aviv by an Iranian missile.
A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Good morning Tel Aviv. The latest situation after Iranian missiles destroyed Tel Aviv last night.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is misleading. The video was from 2025, when a 12-day war erupted between Israel and Iran.
A reverse image search on Google shows that the same video was posted earlier by Instagram user Shosh Bedrosian, a correspondent with @iltv_israel, on June 14, 2025. ILTV is an Israeli news channel.
In the post, the user described the scene as the aftermath of an Iranian ballistic missile strike in a suburb of Tel Aviv. The footage shows extensive damage, including collapsed buildings, overturned cars, and ongoing search-and-rescue operations. She also noted that one woman was critically injured and later died.
Therefore, we can ascertain that the viral video is old.
Using this information, we searched with relevant keywords and found a report published by Al Jazeera on June 13, 2025, about the incident in the video.
According to the report, Iran launched waves of ballistic missiles at Israel after Israeli airstrikes hit its nuclear sites and killed senior military leaders. Iran’s Supreme Leader warned the response would be strong, calling Israel’s attack an act of war. The escalation marked a major shift toward direct, large-scale confrontation between the two countries.
We found that the incident was also reported by Britannica.
According to the report, the ‘12-Day War’ (June 13–24, 2025) was a short but intense direct conflict between Israel and Iran. It began when Israel launched major airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, military sites, and key leaders, including top commanders and scientists. Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks on Israel, while the U.S. later joined in, striking heavily fortified nuclear sites like Fordow and Natanz.
