A video is being widely shared on social media in which police personnel are seen beating three youths in public. The three men were sitting down with their feet tied.

The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it shows police beating youths who were caught harassing college-going female students in Andhra Pradesh.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Andhra Pradesh Police College teaches a lesson to those who harassed female students. They will buy tea and vada for the sake of popularity in Kerala.”

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from 2025 and shows three youths being beaten up for allegedly attacking a police constable in Guntur.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by the Facebook channel of The Times of India on May 27, 2025. The video is shared with a caption that reads, “Police arrested three people accused of assaulting a police constable last month in #AndhraPradesh’s Ithanagar. However, the arrest has sparked controversy after a video emerged showing the accused being made to sit on the ground while police personnel beat them on their feet.”

The link associated with the video leads to a report suggesting that three men accused of assaulting a police constable in Andhra Pradesh’s Tenali were arrested and later seen in a viral video being forced to sit on a road while police officers beat them with sticks.

The incident sparked criticism over alleged police brutality and violations of due process, with opposition leaders and rights groups questioning the public punishment of the accused.

We found that the incident was also reported by Deccan Chronicle on May 27.

According to the report, a video showing police officers allegedly beating three men on a road in Tenali went viral on social media, prompting authorities to launch an inquiry. According to reports, the incident occurred last month but surfaced publicly on Monday.
