A video is being widely shared on social media in which Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal can be heard saying, “I just came to know that there is a water issue in every colony, and sewer issues, the roads are broken and there is garbage everywhere.”
Those sharing the video claim that Kejriwal is making the statement regarding the governance of Atishi Marlena, the current chief minister of Delhi from the AAP. The caption suggests that the people of Delhi are facing issues since he is no longer the Delhi CM.
A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Kejriwal is clearly saying that in his absence chief minister Atishi Marlena did not do any work. Atishi Marlena is useless, the entire government of Delhi is useless. Kejriwal himself admits that the Aam Aadmi Party cannot work and the people of Delhi should not vote for the Aam Aadmi Party.” (Translated from Hindi)
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video was edited to remove the context. In the original video, Kejriwal was taking a dig at the BJP MLA of Vishvas Nagar, Delhi.
On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video uploaded by AAP’s YouTube channel on January 20, 2025. The caption suggested that the video was from a rally in Delhi’s Vishwas Nagar. At around the 25:45-minute timestamp, Kejriwal can be heard making the statement in the viral video.
However, Kejriwal made the statement referring to the MLA elected by the residents of Delhi’s Vishwas Nagar Om Prakash Sharma.
We searched with relevant keywords and found that the speech was covered by ABP News.
The story quoted Kejriwal’s speech during the Vishwas Nagar rally, as seen in the viral video. He said, “Last time we got 62 seats out of 70 in the entire Delhi. We made a mistake in 8 seats. We made a mistake in Vishwas Nagar also. You elected an MLA from their party in Vishwas Nagar. I appreciate their MLA. He fought with us for 10 years but did not do any work. There is a problem of water and sewer in every colony of Vishwas Nagar. Roads are broken. There is filth everywhere. I told their MLA many times to install CCTV cameras and get mohalla clinics built. We were ready to give water but he did not take water. So, you should think about it. If you want fights and quarrels for the next five years, then vote for their MLA.”
Hence, we conclude that Kejriwal made the viral statement referring to the BLP MLA of Vishwas Nagar in Delhi, not CM Atishi Marlena from AAP.
