A video is being widely shared on social media in which the torso of a man is seen cemented inside a pillar after it was broken open. The man’s face appears to be covered.
The video was shared with a caption claiming that a man’s body was discovered cemented inside a pillar.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Until now, it was being kept suppressed in the blue drum, but now all limits are being crossed. A person who was cemented in the pillar has been done in.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The video is from Hisar and it is a statue.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that a similar video was shared by a hyperlocal Facebook page called City Big News on September 10.
The video was shared with a caption that reads, “Freedom fighter’s statue falls prey to politics in Aarya Nagar, Hisar.”
It is an 11:50-minute video report of a police statue being removed and people are giving their opinion it. In the video, it is clearly visible that it is a statue which was cemented and not a dead body.
We compared the viral video with the original video and found, board of ‘Sahni Sweets’ in the background. Also, the orange colour on the pillar is also visible in the other video too.
Taking a hint, we searched with appropriate keywords and found that the incident was also reported by Dainik Bhaskar nine days ago.
According to the report, in Arya Nagar, Hisar, a family erected a statue claiming it to be of Kumbha Ram, an alleged freedom fighter from the Azad Hind Fauj. Villagers opposed this claim, stating there’s no proof he was part of that force. The disagreement centres on the authenticity of Kumbha Ram’s status as a freedom fighter. Later, the statue was removed.
The incident was also reported by Amar Ujala on September 11.
According to the report, in Hisar’s Arya Nagar village, the administration removed a statue of “Kumbha Ram” placed on the highway’s median at Paatan turn on the Hisar–Balsamand route. The statue was taken down using a JCB in the presence of police after objections from villagers who said Kumbha Ram was not a freedom fighter. The family claimed all permissions were in order, that Kumbha Ram was a former soldier honoured in three countries, and that fees had been paid via the local panchayat and council.
We can also see that the statue in the original video has a name tag that reads, "Kumbha Ram." This is visible when shown closely at around the 1:55 timestamp.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
