Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Shatrujeet Kapur confirmed on October 22 that face-offs with Chinese forces were continuing at multiple locations along the Arunachal Pradesh border, with the Ministry of External Affairs acknowledging the next day that the situation along the Line of Actual Control turns ‘disturbed’ whenever Chinese troops deviate from established patrolling patterns.

In the above context, a video has gone viral on social media in which men in military fatigues, faces partly covered, are firing rifles down a narrow built-up street while others crouch and scramble for cover in an urban close-quarters combat, shot at ground level.

The video is shared with a caption claiming that it shows Indian and Chinese soldiers exchanging fire at the LAC.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Firing between the Chinese and Indian armies at the border!”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from July 2026 and shows Kazakhstan military training.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by an Instagram page, Tactical_federation on July 28.

The video was shared with a caption that reads, “The Tactical Training Federation continues its patriotic mission! At the "Koktal" ground in the city of Zharkent, the Federation of Tactical Training held classes with soldiers of the Special Operations Forces of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main goal of the classes is to bring the training conditions as close as possible to the realities of modern combat, improving the practical skills of soldiers, their tactical thinking and readiness to act in a difficult environment. We are convinced that military training should be constantly improved, meet modern requirements and be focused on improving unit readiness. The Tactical Training Federation team confidently continues its patriotic mission, contributing to the development of combat training of soldiers and strengthening the defence capability of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A strong army is the key to the country's security!”

The About Us section of the page suggests that it shows the training of security forces in Kazakhstan.

On the uniform of the personnel in the video, the text ‘АОК-ССО’ is clearly visible. We found that the text shows the Special Operations Forces (ССО) of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh abbreviation ‘АОК’ (Арнайы операциялар күштері) and the Russian abbreviation ‘ССО’ (Силы специальных операций) used together on the same patch.

Moreover, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defence has also confirmed that the footage shows a training exercise conducted by the country's special operations forces, held in June 2026 at the Koktal training area.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
