The ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) emerged on May 16 as a satirical online movement after unemployed youth were allegedly compared to ‘cockroaches’ during a Supreme Court hearing. Founded by Abhijeet Dipke, the movement quickly went viral among Gen Z users, using memes and satire to highlight unemployment, paper leaks, corruption and political frustration.

In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which a crowd of people removing barricades and chasing away police personnel can be seen. The text imposed on the video reads, “The Cockroach Janata Party has officially begun now, Gen-Z. Even the police had to run.”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from December 2025, months before the CJP campaign even began.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was uploaded by Instagram user ‘r.v.c.g.media’ on December 7, 2025. The post was made months before the CJP campaign began.

The caption described it as a protest by farmers against a proposed cement factory project in Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh. The caption, when translated into English, reads, “Farmers created a ruckus in Chhuikhadan, chasing police away after breaking barricades during protests against a cement company project. The protesters were demanding cancellation of the public hearing related to the project.”

The video was also shared by an X account on December 7, 2025. The caption reads, “Why are landowners’ lands being forcibly seized when they do not want to give them up for a mine or factory? If the rural residents are willing to give their land for a cement factory, only then should a cement factory be opened there, and if the rural residents are not willing to give their land for the factory, then a cement factory should not be opened there.”

Since the video predates the formation of CJP, we can ascertain that the viral video is old and unrelated to CJP.

We also found that the video was shared by Dainik Bhaskar six months ago.

According to the reports, farmers in Chhuikhadan, Chhattisgarh, protested a proposed cement company project, demanding cancellation of its public hearing over environmental and land concerns. Protesters broke police barricades and clashed with security personnel during the agitation. Villagers alleged the project would harm farmland, water sources and local livelihoods, while authorities deployed a heavy police presence at the venue.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
