On February 8, the results of the Delhi Assembly elections were declared. The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won 48 out of 70 seats, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) got 22 seats and Congress was not able to secure any.
In this context, a video of Congress leaders dancing to drum beats has been circulating on social media, claiming that the party is celebrating despite winning no seats.
An X user shared the video with the caption, “As soon as Congress returned to 00 in Delhi elections, videos of celebrations started coming from the office.”
SouthCheck found the claim is false. The viral video is old. It shows Congress leaders celebrating the launch of their theme song for the Delhi elections.
On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video shared by an X handle on January 23, 2025. The video was shared with a caption that reads, “Beyond victory or defeat, the Congress party launched its ‘theme song’ for the Delhi Assembly elections with drums and cymbals. Senior party leaders also danced to the theme song to boost the enthusiasm of the workers.”
News 24 also posted the video on January 23, stating that the Delhi Congress launched its theme song, with leaders dancing enthusiastically.
A similar video of Congress leaders dancing over the theme song was also shared by the Facebook page of India Today.
Therefore, we conclude that the viral claim is false.
