Delhi faced heavy rain, causing waterlogged streets and gridlocked traffic, with some locals even swimming in flooded roads.

In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which we can see the entire airport tarmac flooded with water. The video is shared with a caption suggesting that the video is of the waterlogged Delhi airport.

A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Delhi airport has become a sea.” (Translated from Hindi)

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from Dubai.

On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video shared by an X account on April 17, 2024, with a caption that reads, “The UAE is hit by rare heavy rainstorms this morning: vehicles are submerged & planes struggle to navigate through water in Dubai Airport. Heavy rainfall creates massive ponds on streets and airport runways across the UAE.”

We further searched with relevant keywords and found that the incident was reported by a news organisation, Daji World, on April 17, 2024. According to the reports, four decades of unprecedented April rainfall in Dubai led to severe flooding at Dubai Airport on April 17, 2024, causing cancellation or delays of over 30 flights and major airline disruptions.

The incident was also shared by another website.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
