On October 10, CJP started its Delhi protest for the second day, demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Police sealed Jantar Mantar, detained over 200 protesters marching from Connaught Place and Rajiv Chowk, while CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka were released on conditions of maintaining peace. The government also removed Jantar Mantar from designated protest sites, offering Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground, and CBD Ground instead.
In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media showing a large group of people dumping garbage from a truck onto a busy road.
The video is widely being shared on social media with a caption claiming that it shows Delhi Municipal Corporation employees deliberately spreading the trash on the streets to defame the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and student protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Delhi Municipal Corporation employees are spreading garbage on the roads to defame the student movement. Do all the scoundrelly things you want, like hypocrites and pretenders—every bit of your villainy will be exposed.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The video is from August 2026. The incident was part of a strike by municipal employees in Panipat.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by Dainik Bhaskar on August 16.
The video was shared with a report suggesting that the sanitation, sewer, and fire workers under the Municipal Employees’ Union intensified their indefinite strike in Panipat, dumping a garbage-filled dumper at Constitution Chowk and spreading waste on GT Road, causing a major traffic jam. The strike, ongoing since August 6, has been extended to August 18. Workers demand permanent jobs, a Rs 15,200 minimum wage, a Rs 5,000 risk allowance, reinstatement of 3,480 sacked Gurugram workers, and implementation of the May 13 agreement.
Taking a hint, we geolocated the video to GT Road in Panipat and found that the same shops were visible in the background as seen in the viral video. We can also see the same road signs in the background.
Taking a hint, we searched with relevant keywords and found that the incident was also reported by Amar Ujala on August 18.
