The 2026 Israel–Iran war started on February 28 when the United States and Israel launched large-scale airstrikes on Iranian military and leadership targets, killing Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other senior officials.

Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israel and US bases across the region. The conflict quickly spread across West Asia, threatening regional stability and disrupting key oil routes near the Strait of Hormuz.

In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media showing widespread destruction of urban property. Social media users shared the video with a caption suggesting that it shows Tel Aviv’s condition after a recent missile attack by Iran.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Good morning, Tel Aviv.”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is misleading. The viral video is from 2025.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by an X user on June 26, 2025. The video was shared with a caption that reads, “Iran defeated Israel.” The date of the post showed that the video is old.

We further found that the screenshot of the video was shared by a news website, Newsbreak, on June 15, 2025. The caption associated with the image read, “A view of residential buildings destroyed by an Iranian missile strike in Bat Yam, central Israel, on June 15, 2025. | Baz Ratner/AP”

The report associated with the image suggests that Israel’s ambassador to the United States said Israel is not in a hurry to end the war with Iran, stressing that the aim is a decisive victory rather than simply containing the conflict. He said Israel’s objective is to eliminate Iran’s nuclear and missile threat, even if the war continues longer.

Taking a hint, we searched with relevant keywords and found that the same image of destroyed buildings was also shared by the i24 news website on June 15, 2025.

The report associated with the image suggests that at least 10 people, including two children, were killed after Iranian missile strikes hit Israel overnight, causing widespread damage and injuring hundreds. Several residential areas were struck during the barrage, prompting emergency responses and rescue operations as tensions between Iran and Israel continued to escalate.

The incident was also reported by The Politico on June 15, 2025.

Therefore, we conclude that the video is old.
