Fact Check:

SouthCheck found the claim to be false.

On doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same image was uploaded by India Times on July 14, 2016. The article associated with the image suggested that after the death of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, chaos had erupted in Kashmir. The Kashmiris were throwing stones and as a result, police were dealing with them with pellet guns.

The same image was also published by the Indian Express on September 24, 2016. The caption associated with the image suggested that the man injured by rubber pellets in Kashmir. The caption read, “Mohammad Imran Parray, who got wounded after being hit by pellets during a protest recovers at a hospital in Srinagar, Indian controlled Kashmir, Wednesday, July 13, 2016.”

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral image is old and was unrelated to farmers’ protest.
