Farmers from the border states of Delhi started marching towards Delhi on February 13, 2024, Minimum Support Price for crop production.

Many social media users are sharing a video featuring bike-borne men raising the Khalistani flag, and chanting pro-Khalistani slogans.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “किसान आंदोलन में खलिस्तान जिंदाबाद के नारे क्यों!?” (English translation, “Why slogans of Khalistan Zindabad during farmers movement!?”)

Fact Check:

SouthCheck found the claim to be false.

On doing a Google Reverse Image Search with one of the screenshots, we found a Twitter user uploaded the same video on January 6, 2022.  It was shared with a claim that people raised pro-Khalistan slogans at a bike rally that was taken out on the day of the prime minister’s visit to Punjab on January 5, 2022.

At that time, the video was fact-checked by several organizations, mentioning that the visuals were of the Saffron march’. It was a rally that was taken out by the youth of Punjab to mark the ‘Shaheedi Jor Mela,’ a congregation that pays homage to the youngest sons of Sikh leader Guru Gobind Singh. However, the YouTube link that they used for fact-check was unavailable.

Another website, The Daily Episode, shared a GIF of the viral video on February 22, 2022. The report associated with the story suggested that the Central government had ordered to block apps, website, and social media accounts of foreign-based ‘Punjab Politics TV’ for having close links with the banned pro-Khalistan outfit ‘Sikhs For Justice’.

While we could not determine the source of the video, we could confirm that the video was old and unrelated to the farmers’ protest.
