In this context, a video has gone viral on social media in which Khattar is seen crying in the legislative assembly.

Users claimed that he cried when he resigned from his post.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “मनोहर लाल खट्टर के आंसू भारी पड़ेंगे मोदी जी! पहले शिवराज सिंह चौहान को रुलाया और अब खट्टर काका और साथ में अनिल बिज को भी!” (English translation, “Manohar Lal Khattar's tears will weigh heavily, Modi ji! First he made Shivraj Singh Chouhan cry and now Khattar Kaka and Anil Vij are crying too!”)

Fact Check

SouthCheck found the claim to be misleading. We found that the video is from 2021 when he got emotional about a woman legislator being pulled by a tractor.

On searching with appropriate keywords, we found the same video was uploaded on Mojo Story on March 10, 2021. The video is shared with a caption claiming that Khattar cried when a visual of Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda riding a tractor during a protest and women legislators of the party were pulling it with ropes.

The description associated with the video read, “Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar got emotional over the visuals of Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda riding a tractor during a protest and women legislators of the party pulling it with ropes.

"This treatment of women MLAs was worse than bonded labor," he said in the state assembly on Tuesday. "If they had to protest, women members should have been sitting on the tractor, and their male counterparts should have pulled it. I could not sleep all night. You should be ashamed of yourself," said Khattar to Congress members sitting in the House.”

The screenshot of the video was also shared by Navbharat Times on March 10, 2021. The article associated with the video read that during a session of Vidhan Sabha, Khattar started crying while he was talking about a visual that he saw on television.

Hence, we could ascertain that the viral video is old and has no relation to Khattar resigning from the party.
