Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is misleading. We found that the bust was made by a Gujarat-based jeweller to commemorate the BJP’s victory in the Gujarat Assembly elections in 2022.

On searching with appropriate keywords, we found the same video uploaded by Amar Ujala on January 20, 2023. The caption associated with the video suggested that a jeweller from Surat, Gujarat, had made a gold bust of PM Narendra Modi. This bust made of 18-carat gold weighs 156 grams. The jeweller had made this statue to commemorate the massive victory of the BJP in the recent Assembly elections.

The video was also shared by News 24 on January 14, 2023. The caption associated with the video suggested that the statue was displayed at the Bombay Gold Exhibition.

The Hindu had also reported about the incident. According to the report, the bust weighed 156 gm in 18-carat gold and was created by a jeweller from Surat city.

We also found no such reports of PM Modi’s gold statue made in Saudi Arabia. Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is from Gujarat and not Saudi Arabia.
