The US Justice Department has released about 3 million pages of previously sealed documents of Jeffrey Epstein, an American financier and convicted sex offender at the center of one of the biggest scandals involving sexual abuse and trafficking of underage girls.
The disclosures have sparked political fallout, scrutiny of unredacted names and ongoing debate over who was connected to Epstein’s network and what it means.
In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which a girl is seen crying during an interview. She is heard saying, “The Epstein file is not showing everything. The things are far worse than that.” The text embedded in the video suggests that it is an interview with victims of Jeffrey Epstein.
The caption associated with the video reads, “Jeffrey Epstein was granted and protected with absolute power by the global elite, who believed they could commit the most heinous crimes with impunity.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is AI-generated.
On closely observing the video, we can see that the video had a watermark text that reads, “TikTok @Epstein_survivors”. Taking a hint, we searched for the video on TikTok, using a VPN, as it is banned in India. We found that the caption mentions that the video is AI-generated. The caption associated with the video read, “A Survivor from the Epstein Files reveals truth in an Interview. This raises a question on the authenticity of these documents and Donald Trump.”
We further checked the video using an AI-detection tool, Hive Moderation, and found that it shows that the video is 94.4 per cent AI-generated.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is AI-generated.
