Heavy snowfall has blanketed Manali recently and the surrounding Himachal regions, ending a long dry spell and turning roads icy. The snow has disrupted travel, caused long traffic jams and stranded tourists, while authorities warn of continued snow and sub-zero temperatures.

In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which a car bumps into a tree, while another skids down a slope in the snow.

The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it is of the recent snowfall in Manali.

The text embedded in the video reads, “Situation in Manali is extremely dangerous due to snowfall.” (Translated from Hindi)

A social media user shared the video with a caption that sarcastically asks tourists to come to Manali.

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is old and was shot in Turkey.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by a Facebook page of a Turkish news organisation, Mynet, on December 30, 2025.

The video was shared with a caption which, when translated into English, reads, “A car skidding on the snowy road caused another vehicle that had already been in an accident to overturn and slide.”

We found that the same video was also shared by CNN Turk on December 29, 2025, with a caption that reads, “The car sliding in the snow overturned the parked vehicle: Those moments caught on camera. #Malatya’da The accident in which the sliding vehicle overturned the parked vehicle due to snowfall and ice was captured on the mobile cameras.”

The incident was also reported by Haber49 on December 29, 2025.

The report had a screenshot of the viral video. According to the report, heavy ice on a Malatya road caused a car to skid and crash into a parked vehicle, flipping it over. The incident happened after snowfall in Yeşilyurt, but no injuries were reported, only property damage.

Therefore, we conclude that the claim is false. The video is not from Manali; it is from Turkey.
