Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The image is from Thailand.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same image was shared by Hindustan Times on December 24, 2025.

The story associated with the article states that Cambodian officials have accused Thailand of destroying the statue of Vishnu in a disputed border area, after more than two weeks of military clashes between the neighbours.

Another article by Deccan Chronicle also shared the image with a caption that reads, “A Cambodian official responded angrily to the destruction of the statue of the Hindu deity Vishnu, after more than two weeks of military clashes between the neighbours.” The article was published on December 25, 2025.

The Economic Times also shared the image of the demolition of the statue on December 30, 2025. The article associated with the image suggests that, “A Lord Vishnu statue was allegedly demolished in Cambodia by Thailand amid the escalating border tensions. The Lord Vishnu statue was located inside the Cambodian territory in the An Ses area and was built in 2014. India has expressed concerns after the Lord Vishnu statue was demolished in Cambodia, calling it ‘disrespectful acts’.”

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false. The image is from Thailand, not Bangladesh.
