A video is being widely shared on social media in which a man is pulling the beard of an elderly person.

The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it shows a Hindu man torturing a Muslim elderly man in India.

The text embedded in the video reads, “Pulling an old man’s beard is not just an insult, it is oppression. The cry of the weak reaches Allah. Share the video as much as possible and create a protest.” (Translated from Hindi)

A Facebook user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Indian extremist Hindus. Holding the beard of an old man is not just an insult. It is oppression and the cry of the weak reaches Allah.”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from Sudan and has no relation to the communal incident in India.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by a Facebook user on October 31, 2025, with a caption that reads, “UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) humiliating elderly Sudanese man by pulling his beard.”

We further found that the same video was also shared by an Instagram page, doamuslims, a news organisation which claims to document oppression against Muslims.

The video was shared on October 27, 2024, with a caption that reads, “Rapid Support Forces (RSF) humiliating an elderly Sudanese man by pulling his beard. UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have killed at least 124 people in Al-Sireha village in El Gezira State on Friday.”

We further found that the screenshot of the viral video was also shared by Ayin Network, a Sudan-based website, on October 26, 2024. The caption associated with the image read, “An RSF soldier taunts an elderly man in a village in Eastern Al-Jazeera State (social media).”

The report associated with the incident suggests that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) intensified attacks in Sudan’s Al-Jazeera State, carrying out a massacre in al-Sariha village on Friday that reportedly killed 124 civilians, injured around 200 others, and led to the detention of 150 people. Residents fleeing the area shared voice recordings pleading with nearby communities for urgent medicine and medical assistance amid the worsening humanitarian crisis.

The incident was also reported by Sudan Tribune on October 25, 2024.

The report suggests at least 50 people were killed and over 200 were injured after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacked Al-Sariha village in Sudan’s Al Jazirah state on Friday. The assault, part of escalating retaliatory violence following a commander’s defection to the Sudanese army, reportedly involved heavy gunfire on civilians. Rights groups and local organisations have appealed for urgent intervention, medical aid, shelters, and food for displaced residents fleeing the violence.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
