A CCTV video is being widely shared on social media in which a man in a police uniform is hugging a woman in a room. Those sharing the video claim that it shows a police official in India caught doing an indecent act at work.
A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Earlier, I saw love between a principal and a teacher in a school. Today, I am seeing love between police officials in a police station.” (Translated from Hindi)
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is old. The man in the video was a school principal in Karachi, Pakistan.
On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video uploaded on YouTube on September 13, 2023. The video was shared with a caption suggesting that the video was of a Karachi school principal and a teacher.
An X user also shared the video with a caption suggesting that the video was of a Karachi school principal. The video was shared with the caption, “Karachi School Principal Leak Scandal.”
Taking a hint, we searched with relevant keywords and found that the incident was also reported by ANI on September 6, 2023. The report stated that a Karachi school principal was arrested for allegedly assaulting and blackmailing several women.
The incident was also reported by Ary News on September 4, 2023. The report read that police arrested a principal of a private school in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Hadeed for allegedly sexually assaulting teachers and other staff members.
Hence, we conclude that the viral claim is false.
