The ongoing Israel–Iran war began in February 2026 when the US and Israel launched large-scale strikes on Iran, targeting military and nuclear sites.
Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks on Israel and regional targets. The conflict has expanded across the Middle East, involving groups like Hezbollah and raising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Heavy casualties, infrastructure damage and global economic disruptions continue, with no clear end in sight.
In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which a fighter jet is seen crashing to the ground.
Social media users shared the video with a caption claiming it shows an Israeli fighter jet being downed by an Iranian missile.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “#Israeli plane crash in #UAE After being attacked by #Iranian missile.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. We found that the viral video is from 2025 and shows the crash of an Indian fighter jet during an aerial display at the Dubai airshow.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by The Daily Mail UK on November 21, 2025.
The report associated with the image stated that a fighter jet crashed during a demonstration at the Dubai Air Show, plunging into the ground and erupting into a massive fireball in front of spectators. The Indian Air Force’s Tejas aircraft lost control mid-display, prompting panic among the crowd. The pilot was killed, and thick black smoke filled the sky as emergency teams rushed in. Authorities later ordered an inquiry into the cause.
The video was also shared by The Sun on November 21, 2025. According to this report, Namansh Syal, a wing commander from Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, was confirmed as the pilot who died in the horrific airshow crash.
The screenshot of the video was also shared by India Today on November 22, 2025.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
Has iran downed any flight of Israel in UAE?
There is no verified evidence that Iran has downed any Israeli aircraft in the UAE. While Iran has made claims of shooting down enemy jets, these remain unconfirmed and are often denied by Israel or the US. In the UAE, attacks have mainly targeted infrastructure, with missiles and drones intercepted, not aircraft.
