The Israel–Iran conflict has intensified since late February 2026 after joint US–Israeli strikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites.
Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israeli targets and US bases across the region, raising fears of a wider Middle East war and threatening shipping routes near the Strait of Hormuz.
In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which a missile is seen targeting a warship. The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it shows an Iranian cruise missile targeting a US warship.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Iran, America’s War Gemini, Strikes Like This. I Hope It’s True! (sic)”
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by a Facebook page, Fitlife. The video was shared on February 14, with a caption that reads, “Cruise missile vs American aircraft carrier.” Since the conflict started on February 28, we can ascertain that the viral video is old.
Moreover, we saw that the page had many similar simulated visuals of warships, missiles, etc., attacking each other. Some of which can be seen here and here.
Also, the bio section of the page reads, “This entertainment-focused YouTube Short features my own War Thunder gameplay—recorded by me and edited into a quick, punchy highlight. You’ll see jets, tanks, aerial engagements, missile launches, and intense high-speed moments from War Thunder.”
Did Iran hit US warship?
According to reports, conflicting claims are there over an alleged Iranian strike on the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said its ballistic missiles hit the carrier and forced it to withdraw from Gulf waters. However, the United States denied the claim, stating the warship remains operational and continues supporting “Operation Epic Fury.” Independent confirmation of either side’s claims is still unavailable.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
