A video is being widely shared on social media in which some people are seen running on the street as a bomb blast happens in the background.
The video has a text embedded in it which, when translated into English, reads, “Iran has fired a missile at America. It seems that Iran will not spare America either. Power of Iranian Nuclear.” Many social media users are sharing the video with a caption suggesting that it shows Iran’s nuclear attack on Qatar’s airbase.
The video is shared with a caption that reads, “Iran has attacked a US airbase in Qatar. Iran has fired six ballistic missiles at Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar is the largest US military base in West Asia.” (Translated from Hindi)
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The video contains visuals from the 9/11 attacks in the US.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared on November 22, 2008. In the video, at around the 0:18 timestamp, we can see the same video as the viral video. The video is shared with a caption that reads, “South Tower collapse dust plume video taken a few blocks east on Fulton street looking towards WTC.”
A screenshot of the video was also shared by The Economic Times in a carousel on September 11, 2023. The carousel about the 9/11 attack that happened in the United States.
The video was also shared by ABC7 News on September 11, 2021. It includes items found in the rubble, like personal belongings and parts of Flight 93, displayed without frames or captions to honour the victims. Proceeds go to the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
Has Iran attacked a US airbase in Qatar?
Iran carried out a missile attack on the US-run Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar in June 2025, marking a sharp escalation in tensions with Washington. The strike, launched by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, was framed as retaliation for US actions against Iranian interests. Most missiles were intercepted, and no casualties were reported.
