A video is being widely shared on social media in which some students are seen sitting in a flooded school.

Many social media users are sharing the video, suggesting that it shows the condition of a Kerala government school following heavy rain and sarcastically calling it ‘development’ under Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Development that defeats Pinarayi, in the land of Stalin and Saka.” (Translated from Malayalam)

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from Delhi.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same news was shared by a YouTube channel on July 23. The video was shared with a caption suggesting that the video is from Delhi. The description reads, “Delhi’s Tikri Kalan Municipal Girls’ School turned into a waterlogged mess after knee-deep water entered the premises. With no proper drainage system in place, classrooms filled up quickly, forcing young students to climb onto tables just to stay dry.”

The Logical Indian also shared the video on its Instagram page on July 23, with a description suggesting that in Delhi’s Tikri Kalan area, a municipal girls’ school was severely flooded after heavy rainfall, with water reaching knee-deep levels inside the school premises. Students had to wade through the water just to reach their classrooms, making daily education unsafe and challenging.

The video was also shared by the Facebook account of India.com, suggesting that the video is from Delhi.

Hence, we can conclude that the viral claim is false.
