A video of a burning truck has gone viral with the claim that it shows an Indian Army truck set on fire by Khalistanis.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Sikhs of Khalistan threw a Moldova cocktail on an Indian army convoy passing through Indian occupied Punjab setting an Indian army truck on fire. Free Punjab Jindabaad. (sic)”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The Indian Army truck caught fire due to a technical issue during an exercise.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that a screenshot of the video was shared by an X user on May 6, 2023, with a caption that reads, “An Army truck on fire & soldiers struggling in middle of the road! The traffic moves on but NO ONE stops to help. Can you ever imagine a soldier not helping a civilian in such a situation? That’s the real character of Indians! (sic)”
We also found that a screenshot of the video was shared by Amar Ujala on May 4, 2023. The report stated that an Indian Army truck caught fire near Dakha on the Ludhiana-Firozpur highway in Punjab during a military exercise. The blaze, likely caused by a mechanical issue, destroyed the vehicle’s contents but caused no injuries. There is no mention of Khalistan or the incident being the result of an attack.
While we were not able to find more information about the incident, we can confirm that the video is old and has no communal angle to it.
