According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar published on January 2, poet and former Aam Aadmi Party member Kumar Vishwas took a dig at Taimur Ali Khan, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s son. In a statement, he allegedly said people from Bollywood take money and fame from Hindus and name their children after invaders.
Amid the controversy, a video is being widely shared on social media in which Kumar Vishwas is being felicitated by Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
Those sharing the video claim Adityanath felicitated Vishwas over his Taimur’s remark.
A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Neech, Sanghis are absolutely neech. This Bichchhu Kumar Vishwas went after a tiny child named Taimur. Adityanath immediately felicitate him on his heroic gesture of bullying a kid. Perhaps the cause for the felicitation was his outstanding poetry. Sanghis are the absolute worst. (sic)”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from last year when Kumar Vishwas was felicitated at the convocation ceremony of Allahabad University.
On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video on Kumar Vishwas's Instagram account, shared on November 29, 2024. In the video, while Kumar is giving a speech to the attendees, a poster can be seen behind him which says दीक्षांत समारोह (convocation ceremony).
Using this clue, we searched with relevant keywords and found the same video published by NavBharat Times on November 28, 2024. The video was shared with the caption, “CM Yogi and Kumar Vishwas attended the convocation ceremony of Allahabad University. Kumar Vishwas’s poetic style was seen during this. The 136th convocation of Allahabad Central University was organised.”
Hence, we conclude that the viral video is old and unrelated to the alleged comment made by Kumar Vishwas on Taimur.
