A video is being widely shared on social media in which a man is resting at a beach beside a pile of cannabis that he has put out to dry.

Social media users shared the video, suggesting that the viral video is from Tamil Nadu.

A social media user shared the video and wrote, “A young guy fell asleep while letting the sun dry his weed. Achievement of the Dravidian Model Government.”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is of Kozhikode, Kerala.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the screenshot of the video was shared on Matrubhumi on January 16.

According to the report, police in Kozhikode arrested a man after he was found asleep on the beach next to about 370 g of cannabis he had laid out to dry. He tried to flee but was caught; the seizure happened near a school, and he’s been booked under narcotics laws as the probe continues.

News 18 Malayalam had also reported about the incident on January 16, 2026.

According to the report, a 39-year-old man, Muhammed Rafi, was arrested on Kozhikode beach after he fell asleep beside roughly 370 g of ganja he had laid out to dry. Morning walkers spotted him and alerted police. He’s a known repeat offender; the drug and his custody are being processed by the police.
