The movie Udaipur Files waded into controversy as it is said to be based on the murder of Kanhaiyalal Sahu Darji, a tailor from Udaipur, after he allegedly offended the Muslim community. Delhi HC stayed its scheduled July 11 release citing communal tensions and trial‑prejudice. The Supreme Court deferred hearings to July 21, directing the Centre to decide urgently, amid safety concerns.

In the above context, a video is being widely shared online in which some people are seen setting fire to the entrance of a building.

The video is shared with a caption that shows Muslims setting fire to the house of an actor who worked for the movie.

A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Udaipur Files actor’s house caught fire. Muslims set it on fire demanding a complete ban on the film’s release.” (Translated from Hindi)

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from Colombia.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by a Facebook account on July 5. The video was shared with a caption that reads, “In Nazareth, La Guajira, police mistakenly shot dead Yulbert Barboza, a young man returning to his homeland. Locals, enraged, set the police station on fire.”

The video was also shared by an Instagram page on July 5, suggesting that the video was of Nazareth.

We found that the video was shared by news website, Vanguardia, on July 5.

The report stated that Yulbert Fernández Barboza, a visitor to Nazareth (Uribia, La Guajira in Colombia), was fatally shot on the night of July 4 by police who mistook his vehicle for one used in an earlier attack. In anger, residents burned down the local CAI station, wounding several and confronting authorities over the error.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
