A video is being widely shared on social media in which some people are seen demolishing a structure.

The video is shared with a caption claiming that it is from Bangladesh, where Muslims can be seen vandalising a Hindu temple.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Bangladeshis destroying Hindu temples! Being in the majority, they revealed their true face!”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The video shows people vandalising a shrine of Ali Hazrat Baba Ali Pagla in Sirajganj, Bangladesh.

On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video uploaded by a Facebook page on August 30, 2024. The video was shared with a caption that reads, “The heart is bleeding! The holy shrine of Hazrat Baba Ali Pagla (may Allah have mercy on him) is being demolished.”

We also found that a Bangladeshi news website, Kalerkantho, on August 31, 2024, reported about the incident. The report had a screenshot of the viral video. The report suggested that over a hundred people, including the Imam of the Jame Mosque in Shalgram Tamiz Uddin’s house, Golam Rabbani, vandalised the shrine of Ali Pagla near the nearby Bamanjani Bazaar in Sirajganj, Bangladesh.

We found another YouTube channel, The Metro TV, where the video was uploaded on August 29, 2024. The caption associated with the video read, “The shrine of Ali Hazrat Baba Ali Pagla is being demolished.”

Therefore, we conclude that the viral claim is false.
