Fact Check: No, viral video of man bathing in tub of milk is not from Kerala

video is widely being shared on social media in which a man is seen taking a bath in a tub of milk in what looks like a factory.

Those sharing the video claim that it is from Kerala and shows a Muslim man taking a bath at a milk factory.

A social media user shared the video with the caption, “What do they do to make Milk Halal? They bathe in the milk and distribute it to Hindus.”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is misleading. We found that the viral video is not from Kerala.

On searching with appropriate keywords, we found a screenshot of the viral video uploaded by Indian Express on November 13, 2020. The report was titled ‘Worker takes a bath in milk tub at a dairy plant in Turkey; arrested after video goes viral.’ The report stated that the video shows a worker’s TikTok stunt at a dairy plant in the Central Anatolian province of Konya, Turkey.

A video of the incident was also uploaded by ATV Haber on November 5, 2020. The news report carried the same visuals seen in the viral video.

NDTV had also reported the incident on November 9, 2020. The report was titled ‘Worker Bathes In Milk At Dairy Plant, Arrested After Video Goes Viral.’ The report stated that the video of a man identified as Emre Sayar went viral in which he was taking a dip in the milk vat. After the video went viral, the dairy plant in Turkey was shut down and the man was arrested.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video was of Turkey and not India.
