Fact check: Old unrelated video falsely linked to Israel-Hamas conflict

We can ascertain that the viral video is old and edited and has no connection with the ongoing Israel-Palestine war.

A video of a white kaftan-clad man falling off a hoverboard and exploding has gone viral on social media.

Users claim that the man in the video was a Hamas suicide bomber.

The video was shared by a  social media user with a caption that reads, “#AllahuAkbar Bomb disposal squad. Bulla preparing against Israel. Go on a direct journey to hell. #Hamas #HamasTerrorists #Israel_under_attack.”

Fact check

SouthCheck found that the viral claim was fake. 

On searching Google with the keyword, ‘man falling off hoverboard’, we found that a social media user uploaded the video on October 12, 2015. In this video, we did not see that the man exploded.

The video was also uploaded on the YouTube channel on October 23, 2015, with a caption that reads, “Dubai man goes way to fast on his hoverboard and has a nasty wipeout.” 

We found the same video was uploaded by DailyMail UK on October 20, 2015. The report read, “Painful moment man is sent hurtling down the road face-first after he loses his balance on speeding hoverboard in Dubai.” The report also suggested that the video, which was filmed by artist and entertainer Masta Moneyplus on a smart phone.

In neither of the videos we saw the man exploding after falling off the hoverboard nor we found any report of any such explosion. Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is old and edited and has not connection with ongoing Israel-Palestine wa
