Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim was misleading. We found that the viral video is of a landslide that happened in 2021.

On doing a Google reverse image search, we found the same video was uploaded by a Facebook page on October 17, 2021, with a caption that suggested that a dog and six pups were rescued from a landslide in Kerala. The report further suggested that rescuers heard the continuous barking of the dog and found the dog and its six pups buried in the earth up to the level of her neck. However, rescuers could only save two of the pups’ lives.

We found that the incident was also reported by The News Minute on October 14, 2021. The report suggested that a couple Sabitha and Ashraf, who hail from bordering Palakkad-Malappuram districts of Kerala, heard the wailing of a dog. After two days of hearing the whimpering, the couple took a close inspection of the matter and found a dog and its puppies buried inside the mud after a landslide in Palakkad. The dog and its puppies were later rescued.

Indian Express had also reported about the incident.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is old.
