In May 2025, India and Pakistan experienced a significant escalation in tensions following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. India responded with Operation Sindoor, targeting militant groups in Pakistan, leading to Pakistan’s retaliatory Operation Bunyan al-Marsus. A fragile ceasefire was eventually announced.
In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which many missiles are seen attacking a city. The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it is of a recent missile attack by Pakistan on Delhi. A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Delhi, India.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is old and is from Israel’s Tel Aviv.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by the official account of the embassy of Israel in Australia, dated October 2, 2024. As per the caption, the video shows Iran launching 180 missiles into Israel.
The caption read, “Over 180 missiles were launched from the terror country - Iran, hitting all parts of Israel, while terrorists opened fire in Jaffa’s light rail, leaving at least 8 dead and others critically injured. Israel is facing war on 7 different fronts, each with the same goal: to destroy the only stable, democratic country in the region.”

An extended video of the bombing was also shared by Al Jazeera’s X account on October 2, 2024, with a caption that reads, “Videos show dozens of missiles flying over Tel Aviv, with some of them landing. The Israeli military says the missiles were fired by Iran and that a ‘large number’ had been intercepted.”
The Times of Israel also reported the incident on October 1, 2024. Iran launched 181 ballistic missiles at Israel, targeting military bases in retaliation for the assassinations of key Iranian and allied leaders. Israel’s defence systems intercepted most missiles, but some caused damage and casualties. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed retaliation, escalating regional tensions.
While there are reports of Pakistan attacking India, we found no reports of it attacking Delhi.
Hence, we conclude that the viral claim is false.
