A video is being widely shared on social media in which a child is seen standing amid the snowfall with a Palestinian flag in the background.
The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it shows a Palestinian child who is seeking help amid the recent Israel-Palestine conflict.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Please dear friends consider donating for my family ya Allah help for sure life is becoming difficult just help me sister and brother and link in bio and donate even €50 can help #freepalestine #gaza #lovepalestine”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The video is AI-generated.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared with the caption suggesting that it is of the Syrian child in the city of Ain al-Arab (Kobani).
Similarly, another post suggests that it is of a child in Rojava, another Syrian city.
However, we found no credible social media post or news report validating the source of the video.
We further checked if snowfall happened in Palestine. While there were reports of winter storms in Gaza, we found no reports of snowfall in the city, thus suggesting a discrepancy in the news and visuals.
Moreover, we can also see a lack of clarity in the child’s hands and fingers, with unnatural overlapping. Also, the movement of the child and its relation with the background do not blend well. The blinking of the child is also unnatural. All of these signs suggest that the video might be AI-generated.
Thus, we further checked the video with AI-detector, Hive Moderation and found it to be 99.8% AI-detected.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is AI-generated.
