A video is being widely shared on social media in which a man is seen walking in a garden before falling.
The video is shared with a caption suggesting that the man in the video is Tamil superstar Rajnikanth. A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Be Careful Rajini Sir..”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The man in the viral video is not Rajnikanth but a Kannada journalist.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by a veteran Kannada journalist, Rajaram Tallur, on July 24. He shared the video and refuted the viral claim that the man is Rajnikanth.
He said that the man in the viral video was him and not Rajnikanth. The caption associated with the video reads, “I shared here a video (my home security camera grab) of me slipping into the house a week ago. It’s now a lot of my friends are showing it back to me. What happened is that some mischievous person has shared on social media that this was a slip at film actor Rajinikanth’s house. Now it’s going viral on various social media platforms. Several friends brought it to my notice. In this post Truth era, I myself, who is the original person of this data, will not believe that it is my video, actor Rajinikanth’s! This may sound funny to the overlook. I don’t have the time or system to tell each of these channels that it’s my video.”
The video was shared by him on his Facebook account on July 24, with a caption suggesting that he was going to take a newspaper when he slipped. He also clarified in the caption that it was just for gag that he was sharing the CCTV footage.
Moreover, we found no reports of Rajnikanth being injured. We also found that Rajnikanth will be promoting his Coolie movie on August 2, at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. The movie is going to be released on August 15.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
