On March 17, violent clashes erupted in Nagpur following demands by Hindu nationalist groups to demolish Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb. The unrest resulted in injuries to over 30 individuals, including police officers and led to the imposition of a curfew in affected areas.

In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media about Iftar party being held in the ongoing holy month of Ramadan. Those sharing the video claim that the party was attended by RSS leader Indresh Kumar when the Nagpur clashes were going on.

An X user shared the video and wrote, “The night when Hindu houses and vehicles were being identified and burned in Nagpur, RSS Indresh Kumar was dining with the mullahs.” (Translated from Hindi)

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is misleading. The viral video is old and has no relation to the recent violence in Nagpur.

On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video on the YouTube channel of ANI Bharat, uploaded on March 16, 2025. The video was shared with a caption stating that RSS leader Indresh Kumar participated in an Iftar party and helped break the fast of Umer Ahmed Ilyasi in Delhi.

Indresh Kumar also shared the video of the event on his Facebook page on March 15, 2025.

The video was also shared by News 18 India on March 16, 2025. The report was shared with a caption that reads, “Iftar party was organised at the Community Center in Delhi. RSS leader Indresh Kumar attended this Iftar party. Indresh Kumar opened Imam Omar Ahmed Ilyasi Rosa. Indresh Kumar’s arrival in this Iftar party leads the country towards brotherhood.”

As per the news reports, the Iftar party happened before the Nagpur clashes, which occurred on March 17. Therefore, we conclude that the viral video is unrelated to the Nagpur violence.
