A video of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan exiting a temple with his daughter, Suhana Khan and his manager Pooja Dadlani is circulating on social media. The accompanying claim suggests that he visited the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, to take a holy dip in the Ganges River.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Shahrukh Khan visited Mahakumbha for Ganga Snan.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is of 2023 when SRK went to Tirupati Temple before the release of his ‘Jawan’ movie.
On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video uploaded by a YouTube channel of The Indian Express on September 5, 2023. The video was shared with a caption suggesting that it was of him visiting Tirupathi Balaji temple ahead of the release of Jawan movie. The report read, “Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, accompanied by his family members and actress Nayanthara visited the Tirumala temple. Having arrived at the temple the previous night, they had the opportunity for an early morning darshan at the renowned hill shrine.”
We further found the video was also shared by India Today on September 5, 2023. The report read that Shahrukh Khan, his daughter Suhana Khan, and his manager Pooja Dadlani visited and offered prayers at the Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple. His movie Jawan was set to be released on September 7.
Another YouTube channel also published the video on September 5, 2023.
Therefore, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
