Fact Check: Shootout near Jagatpura, Jaipur? No, video is from Lebanon

A dramatic video showing armed men exchanging gunfire between vehicles on a road is circulating on social media. The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it depicts a recent shooting near the Jaipur Airport near Jagatpura, Rajasthan.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Dangerous bullet firing in Jagatpura Jaipur.”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from Lebanon.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by a Facebook page on October 13. The video was shared with a caption that reads, “An officer and a member of the Mount Lebanon Investigation Unit were injured during a pursuit of a wanted man on the Damour-Saadiyat road when the patrol was ambushed.”

Taking a hint, we further found that the same video was shared by the X account of Moscow News on October 13, with a caption that reads, “Injury of an officer and a member of the intelligence team in Mount Lebanon during a chase of a wanted individual on the Damour - Saadiyat road, when the patrol was ambushed.”

We also found that a screenshot of the video was also shared by Al-Arabiya Lebanon with the caption that reads, “An officer and an element from the Mount Lebanon survey were injured during a wanted manhunt on the Damour-Saadiyat road, according to a local report. #Arabic”

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
