Operation Sindoor was a 2025 Indian military campaign launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.

On May 7, India conducted precision airstrikes targeting nine militant camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The operation marked the first drone battle between the nuclear-armed neighbours and led to significant escalation, including Pakistan’s retaliatory shelling and a subsequent ceasefire on May 10.

In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which a person in an Indian army uniform is being given a grand welcome by his family members after he comes home. Those sharing the video claim that it shows that the Army officer was being felicitated for his role in Operation Sindor.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Coming back home after the Sindoor operation, What a lovely moment. (sic)”

We found that the incident was also shared by Zee News on August 17, 2023. The caption read, “When a soldier returned to his village, his family welcomed him in this manner.”

The incident was also reported by The Indian Express on August 16, 2023. According to the report, a Sikh soldier receiving a grand welcome from his family upon returning home from training has gone viral. The soldier, dressed in his Army uniform, was greeted with a red carpet, saluted his mother, touched her feet, and was showered with flower petals by his family. The video, shared on Independence Day, resonated with netizens, celebrating the pride and honour of serving the nation.

Hence, we conclude that the viral claim is false.
