A video is being widely shared on social media in which a man and woman are in a physical confrontation in front of the police outside an airport.
The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it shows a Tamil Nadu cab driver forcing passengers into his vehicle at an airport in the presence of police.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “WTF happening in TN... This is TN ruled by DMK Look how Cab mafias are forcing passengers into the cars and the Police acts as agents at airports. Look how the cab drivers agents are forcefully holding women and dragging into cabs at airports. Safety ‘0’ Respect for women ‘0’.. Mafia rule 100 % This is Periyar Model ? (sic)”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. It shows a fight between a couple over personal issues.
On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video was shared on the YouTube channel of Thanthi TV on March 27.
The video was shared with a caption suggesting that the incident happened at Coimbatore Airport, and it shows a fight between a husband and a wife. The description suggests that the wife saw her husband with another woman, and thus caused a stir at the Coimbatore airport.
We further found that the incident was also published on the Thanthi TV website.
According to the report, a woman at Coimbatore Airport caused a scene when she verbally abused her husband, who was seen with another woman, and hit someone who intervened.
The video was also shared by ABP Nadu with the same caption, suggesting that it shows a woman creating a ruckus outside Coimbatore Airport after she found her husband with another woman.
Therefore, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
