In the above context, a video of the Indian cricket team playing with colours inside a bus has gone viral on social media. The video is shared with a caption claiming that the video shows Team India celebrating winning the Champions Trophy.
The text embedded on the video reads, “See the happiness of Virat Kohli after celebrating.” A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “See Viral Kohli and all celebrating Holi.”
SouthCheck found that the viral claim is false. The viral video is old. It shows the cricket team’s Holi celebrations in 2023.
On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video uploaded by a YouTube channel on March 7, 2023. The title read, ‘Indian Team Holi Celebration Virat Kohli | Rohit Sharma | Shubman Gill.’
We also found that Jagran uploaded a screenshot of the video on a carousel, which was shared on March 8, 2023, with a title stating that the video shows Team India celebrating Holi. The image was shared with a caption stating that Viral Kohli and other cricketers were dancing to Amitabh Bachchan’s hit song, Rang Barse.
Another website, Zee News, also published a screenshot of the video on March 7, 2023. The report stated that Team India celebrated Holi with great enthusiasm before the fourth test match at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
We found that the video was shared by cricketer Shubham Gill on his Instagram account on March 7, 2023.
Therefore, we conclude that the viral video is old and not related to the ICC Champions Trophy.
