Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, was expelled from the RJD for six years on May 25, due to ‘irresponsible behaviour’ and alleged violation of party and family values following a controversial social media post about his personal life.

In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which we can see Tej Pratap giving his father, Lalu Prasad, birthday greetings through a video call.

The video is shared with a caption suggesting that the video is of Lalu’s recent birthday, which took place on June 11. Thus, the caption hints that Tej Pratap wished his father through a video call after he was expelled.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Tej Pratap Yadav wished his father Lalu Yadav on his birthday!” (Translated from Hindi)

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is misleading as the video is old.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by Bihar Tak on June 11, 2023. The video is shared with a caption that reads, “Tej Pratap Yadav made a video call to Lalu Yadav late at night, said he will celebrate his birthday in Barsana.”

We found the same video was also shared by Live Hindustan on June 11, 2023.

We further found that this year, Tej Pratap has tweeted a photo of himself in front of his father’s image with a caption, “Wishing a very happy birthday to the people’s leader, the voice of the poor, my guiding light — Shri Lalu Prasad ji. You’re not just my father, you are a movement that inspires justice, courage, and change. Carrying forward your ideology is not just my responsibility, it is my dharma.”

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is old.
