A video is widely being shared on social media in which a woman is seen speaking aggressively into a loudspeaker.
The video is accompanied by a caption claiming that the woman in the video is a Hindu speaking out against atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads: “Video from Bangladesh. Hindu women are crying as they are told to either convert or leave Bangladesh. हिन्दुओ जमकर समर्थन करो, बंग्लादेश के हिन्दुओ को जरूरत है, कल तुम्हे भी जरूरत पड़ेगी, 57 देश एकजुट हैं.” (English translation: “Hindus, support them wholeheartedly. Bangladesh Hindus need us. Tomorrow, you will also need this unity, as 57 countries are united.”)
SouthCheck found this claim to be false. The woman shown in the video is an actress named Azmeri Haque Badhon, and there is no communal angle involved.
A Google Reverse Image Search revealed that a screenshot from the same video was shared by Bangladeshi director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. He uploaded the photo with a caption stating that the woman in the video was a Bangladeshi actress, Badhon, who, along with her film fraternity member Piplu, joined a rally to protest against the Sheikh Hasina regime and support students.
Further searches with relevant keywords revealed that the video of the incident was also shared on YouTube by Barta 24 on August 1, 2024. The caption suggested that Azmeri Haque Badhon was protesting against the Sheikh Hasina regime.
Arab News also reported on the protest.
Hence, we can confirm that the woman in the viral image is a Bangladeshi actress, and there is no communal angle involved.
