In the above context, a video is going viral on social media in which three people are being arrested by police officers. The video is shared with the caption claiming that three people were arrested by Iranian police as they were spying for Israel.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Israel’s spies are being hanged to death. What do you say? #Iran #ceasefire.” (Translated from Hindi)
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The video was old and showed men who were arrested for robbing.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by an Instagram account on March 14, 2025.
The video also had a watermark that read SEFRDOYEKPRESS. Taking a hint, we searched with the keyword, @SEFRDOYEKPRESS and found that it was of an Instagram page.
The video was shared by the Instagram page ‘SEFRDOYEKPRESS’ on March 5. The caption associated with the video suggests that it shows the arrest of robbers who were accused of breaking into the house and stealing currency, gold and household appliances.
We further found that the incident was also reported by the website, 7Sobh, on March 15. The report also shared a screenshot of the viral video. The report suggested that police had arrested a ruthless armed gang led by ‘Mohsen.’ The gang targeted 28 luxury villas near Tehran and Karaj, stealing over 100 billion Iranian rials in cash and gold. They threatened homeowners with Kalashnikovs—and even committed a Kermanshah murder
Therefore, we can ascertain that the viral video is old and shared with a false claim.
