A video is being widely shared on social media in which a person, purportedly a ticket checker, is seen harassing a woman covering her face on the train.
The video is shared with a caption claiming that a girl boarded a train without a ticket, which led to the ticket checker assaulting her.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “A girl didn’t buy a ticket, so the railway employee grabbed her hand and behaved in this manner. Perhaps he showed her the way out and even took money.” (Translated from Hindi)
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is scripted.
On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video shared by an Instagram user, official_rajthakur, on September 21.
The video is shared with a caption that reads, “This is what the ticket checker did to the girl when she did not have a ticket. This Video Is Totally Scripted Not Real All Content Just For Entertainment Purpose And Awareness Not Hate Speech.”
We further found that the Instagram page has many similar scripted videos. The bio of the Instagram page reads, “Reel creator.”
We further found that an Instagram user has also shared a similar video with a caption that reads, “A video posted on Instagram by a user identified as Raj Thakur has gone viral, alleging that a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) misbehaved with a minor girl over a ticket issue. The claims made in the video have not been independently verified. The video has triggered widespread outrage online, with many demanding a thorough investigation into the allegations. At the same time, concerns have been raised over the circulation of sensitive and unverified content involving a minor, with critics calling it irresponsible if shared solely for social media attention. Authorities are urged to verify the facts and take appropriate legal action based on the findings.”
Further, we found that Raj Thakur himself had taken to Instagram on March 24 to say that his videos are scripted.
He shared the video with the caption that reads, “So friends, I want to share one thing with all of you. All the videos posted on Raj Thakur’s page handles are scripted and created by our team. These videos are inspired by real-life incidents. We request that you watch them with awareness and respond thoughtfully. Our videos are not meant to hurt or offend anyone.”
We also tried to connect with the creator, and the article will be updated once we receive a response.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
