A video is being widely shared on social media in which a woman is seen pelting stones at a JCB. In retaliation, police officials heckle the woman.

Social media users are sharing the video with a caption suggesting that the viral video is from Uttar Pradesh.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “She forgot this before throwing stones — This is Yogi’s rule here. Jai Ho Bulldozer Baba!” (Translated from Hindi)

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from Nepal, not India.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared on a Facebook page, Live News Raftar, on August 15. The video was shared with a caption suggesting that the video is from Kathmandu, Nepal.

In this video, at around 0:21-second timestamp, we can see that ‘KMC police’ is written on the helmet of the police.

Using this information, we searched with the keyword, KMC police and found that it stands for Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) police.

We also compared the viral image with the image of uniform worn by the Nepal police and found them to be the same.

Moreover, we searched with relevant keywords and found that the incident was also reported by the Nepali website Today Dainik on August 15.

As per the report, Kathmandu Metropolitan authorities used bulldozers to demolish informal homes in the Manohara squatter settlement for being built without permission. As the municipal and Nepal police carried out the operation, residents resisted and threw stones. Officials had given a seven-day notice before removing the structures.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is from Nepal, not Uttar Pradesh.
