Fact Check

SouthCheck found the claim to be misleading. We found that the building attacked by the protestors belonged to the Detective Branch of Police (DB), South office, Keraniganj, Bangladesh.

On doing a Google Reverse Image search, we found a similar video was uploaded by a YouTube channel on August 6, 2024. The caption suggested that the DB office was ransacked.

Another video uploaded on FB suggests that the video was of the Keraniganj DB office.

Taking a hint, we searched for the DB office of Keraniganj on Google and compared the screenshot of the viral image with the image present on Google Maps and found them to be the same.

We further found a news report suggesting that many police stations were vandalized in Bangladesh after Sheikh Hasina resigned.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is misleading and no communal angle is involved in it.
