SouthCheck found that the claim was false. We found that the video shows people dying from electrocution during Jagannath Dev’s Rath Yatra in Bogra, Bangladesh.
Through a Google reverse image search, we found the same video on YouTube uploaded on July 7, 2024, with a caption that suggested that the video shows people dying from electrocution in Bogra Rath Yatra.
The incident was also reported by Bangla News 24. According to the report, on July 5, five people died due to electrocution during the Rath Yatra in Sadar Upazila of Bogra in Bangladesh. At least 25 people were injured in this incident.
News websites such as Dhaka Tribune and Prothom Alo English also reported the incident.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is old and unrelated to any communal violence.
